John A. DuRant, D.M.D.
Owner / Dentist
Dr. DuRant was born and raised in South Carolina. A few years after graduating from Clemson University with a degree in Biological Sciences, he and his wife moved to Philadelphia where he received his dental degree from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in 2017. He then moved to Charleston where he completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program in 2018 at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has been practicing in South Carolina ever since.
Dr. DuRant is a member of the American Dental Association and the South Carolina Dental Association. He has served on various dental mission trips to Ecuador and Trinidad over the years with Dental Community Fellowship. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Kendall, for 12 years and they have 4 young children who keep them very busy! When he’s not in the office, you’ll find him spending time with his family and involved in his church. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, exercising and watching Clemson football.
Dr. DuRant is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Greater Charleston community and build relationships with his patients through comprehensive dental care. He strives to know each of his patients individually and work with them in a way that is comfortable, conservative and effective.
Shelby Meree
Office Coordinator
Shelby was born and raised in Charleston. She has been working dental office coordination for over 10 years. Patient care is her priority. She is the first point of contact for our office. Her knowledge and welcoming demeanor will make you feel like family from your initial conversation with her. Shelby enjoys spending her free time with her two boys and her 4-legged pup child. She enjoys soaking up sun, listening to music, and is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Shawndra Marrs, RDH
Dental Hygienist
Shawndra is originally from Kentucky but has lived in South Carolina for 28 years. She received her Dental Hygiene degree from Trident Technical College and has been practicing hygiene for more than 25 years. Shawndra loves getting to know her patients as well as providing them with quality dental care. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and friends, going to church, walking and shopping.
Allie Powers
Dental Assistant
Allie has moved around most of her life with the military and recently moved to Charleston with her family to settle down until her husband's retirement from service. Allie has a wonderful background in dentistry and brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. She has been a dental assistant for 18 years. In her spare time, Allie enjoys spending time with her two boys and husband, as well as watching sports, mainly Alabama football, and action movies.
